CONTE GIANGIROLAMO | Rosso I.G.T. Puglia
Grape: 50% Primitivo – 50% Negroamaro
Production area: Itria Valley, 450 mt on the sea level.
Soil: Mixed calcarious clay.
Vinification: The maceration is in oak tanks, with a maturation in French oak barrels for 22/24 months and it is aging in bottles for 6 month.
Tasting note
Color: intense ruby red with violet hues;
Bouquet: fruity with hints, cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, elegant scents of spices with pleasant vanilla and chocolate tones;
Taste: dry, full, harmonious, lingering, the right tannin content confirms the rich elegant bouquet.
Food pairings: Ideal for dishes with meat sauce, cheese and cold cuts.
Serving temperature: about 16°- 18° C
Alcohol: 14,5% Vol.
«…Legend has it that in days of old Count Giangirolamo Il Acquaviva D’Aragona was involved in a dispute about taxes on his buildings. He Instructed his tenant farmers to construct “casedde” (temporary buildings) using only dry limestone. The buildings were dismantled before the arrival of the King’s inspector, hence he saw no houses and the infamous tax did not have to be paid.
From this stroke of genius and thanks to the brave farmers the “castedde” became what are known throughout the world today as trulli……»
